Following the success of Malta's Wired Youth: Science Forum, young minds from Malta and Greece converged for a virtual debate on AI, held on February 24th, 2024 at the Valletta Design Cluster.

The debate focused on three pivotal aspects of AI: its impact on jobs, education, and ethical considerations. Participants engaged in thoughtful discussions, leveraging their diverse perspectives and experiences to explore the multifaceted challenges and opportunities presented by AI. This event marked a significant step in fostering cross-cultural collaboration and dialogue.

In examining AI's effect on employment, participants deliberated on the implications of automation and technological advancements. They discussed strategies to ensure that AI contributes to economic growth while also addressing concerns about job displacement and inequality.

The discourse on AI and education centred on leveraging technology to enhance learning experiences and promote educational equity. Participants exchanged ideas on utilising AI-driven tools and platforms to personalise learning, expand access to education, and bridge gaps in educational attainment.

Ethical considerations in AI emerged as a central theme, highlighting the importance of responsible AI development and deployment. Participants engaged in discussions on privacy concerns, algorithmic bias, and the need for transparent and accountable AI systems.

Despite geographical distances, the participants collaborated effectively to craft joint resolutions addressing each subtopic. These resolutions will be presented to local policymakers, reflecting the collective aspirations of the youth to shape AI policies that prioritise ethical principles and societal well-being.
